Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life

I highly recommend reading Dr. Wayne W. Dyer’s newest book: Change Your Thoughts Change Your Life.  Living the Wisdom of the Tao

I have heard that it has helped people in recovery and I am recommending  it to my recovery clients and it can be very useful for those who are not participating in any 12 steps program.

There are 81 essays on the 81 verses of the Tao. Dr. Dyer reveals how to apply the ancient wisdom of the Tao Te Ching to today’s modern world.

The book is to be read slowly, one verse a day.  Then you apply Dr. Dyer’s “Do the Tao Now” for the day and notice what happens in your day and in your mind.

From the 1st verse essay: He asks us to permit ourselves to practice more paradoxical thinking by recognizing that desiring (wanting) and desireless (allowing) are different and the same…rather like the mysterious ends of a  continuum.  This is one way to “let go and let God.”

Think about it; you can’t have one without the other.  How often do we desire something and then not allow ourselves to have it because we believe we can’t for some learned reason.

Another insight from the 1st verse: Let the world unfold without always attempting to figure it all out.  When expectation are shattered, practice allowing that to t be the way it is.  Relax, let go, allow and recognize that some of your desires are about how you think your world should be, rather than how it is in that moment. Become an astute observer…judge less and listen more.

Those are a just a couple notes from the 1st verse. I am going to be sharing more with you later and get you thinking more about what you are thinking.

Every once in awhile check in with your thoughts and ask yourself, ” would I like that thought to create my life?”

One step at a time!

Blessings, Marilyn
