Thomas Moore In a Life at Work

Thomas Moore in his book A Life at Work: The Joy of Discovering What You Were Born to Do defines a calling as a deep sense that your very being is implicated in what you do.  “You feel that you fit into the scheme of things when you do this particular work.  You have a sense of purpose and completion in the work. It defines you and gives you an essential tranquillity. The work that provides such a deep reward may change over time and you may go through several periods in your life defined by a different work.  Toward the end of your life you may see all the jobs you have done as fateful, composing your life work and answering your calling”

It is your duty to respond to your calling. Your soul wants to expand and express itself.

Each of us is a piece of a universal puzzle to which our work is greatly needed.

If we each stepped forward honoring that calling when it is revealed; not letting our fears, doubt or others keep us from taking action we would be happier and healthier.

You can not be successful without releasing your creative genius. That creative genius is different for everyone!

Start thinking about what you want to do.

What gets you excited?

What are you passionate about?

What gets you really angry and makes you want to do something?

What would you do for free if you didn’t have to worry about money?

Search for those answers and start taking steps towards them.

Let me know what you come up with, I would love to know and so would others!
